October 27 Black Day: PM, President vow to continue support for Kashmiri brethren

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have said that India has suppressed the self-determination rights of Kashmiris for 77 years. Both leaders reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to support the Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for freedom.

On Kashmir Black Day commemorated on October 27, President Asif Ali Zardari said that October 27, 1947 is a dark chapter in the history of South Asia. On this day, India killed troops to occupy Jammu and Kashmir. “The people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) are suffering the oppression of the Indian forces,” President Zardari said, adding that India has turned IOJ&K into a militarised zone.

“Three generations of Kashmiris are waiting for the right of self-determination from the United Nations,” President Zardari said, adding that the international community should put pressure on India and stop human rights violations.

“Pakistan will stand with Kashmiris till they achieve their right to self-determination,” President Zardari said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Black Day said that 77 years ago on this day, India landed its forces on Srinagar and occupied a large part of Jammu and Kashmir.

The PM said that the Indian occupying forces are oppressing Kashmiris under the guise of anti-terrorism laws, but these oppressive measures cannot suppress the desire of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.

Pakistan will continue its full moral, diplomatic and political support till the final resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, the premier said.
