MANSEHRA: In a deeply disturbing case of child exploitation, police in Oghi have arrested two suspects for allegedly blackmailing minors using fake social media identities and producing explicit videos.
According to police, as many as 463 obscene video clips were recovered from their mobile phones, involving children aged between seven and 18.
The case came to light after a ninth-grade student submitted a complaint at Oghi police station.
He stated that a group of young men attempted to sexually assault him on his way home and had also edited his pictures downloaded from Facebook to threaten and blackmail him.
Police launched an immediate investigation, registering a case against two individuals.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in similar crimes over a long period.
Police then expanded the scope of the investigation, leading to the recovery of hundreds of videos of a highly inappropriate nature from the suspects’ mobile devices.
The accused have been booked under multiple legal sections at Oghi police station, with officials confirming the involvement of minors across a wide age range.
The incident has triggered widespread anger in the local community, with citizens demanding strict legal action against the perpetrators.
Speaking on the matter, Mansehra District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur confirmed the establishment of a special IT monitoring cell under his supervision.
The unit operates round-the-clock to detect and monitor suspicious online content and social media accounts.
He warned that the misuse of social platforms—especially for spreading sectarian hatred, inciting unrest, or targeting youth—is a serious crime and will not be tolerated.
“Those exploiting social media to create mischief and spread hate will face the full force of the law,” the DPO said.
The DPO further stated that coordination with other law enforcement agencies is ongoing to bring such elements to justice swiftly.
He also issued a stern warning to those using fake identities to mislead or exploit the public online.

In a message to parents, the police urged increased vigilance over their children’s online activities to protect them from manipulation or exploitation.
“Safeguard your children’s future not through fear, but by nurturing them with knowledge and awareness,” the DPO added.
