Olympian Arshad Nadeem to be awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has directed to confer civil award, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, on Arshad Nadeem, who made history by winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

President Zardari has directed that Arshad Nadeem should be conferred with Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his services in the field of sports.

In this regard a letter has already been dispatched to the cabinet division.

On Friday the National Assembly also unanimously passed a resolution to confer a civil award on Arshad Nadeem.

The resolution, presented during the NA session, praised Nadeem’s remarkable achievement in the javelin throw event, where he set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in 40 years.

The resolution further recommended that the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari bestow a civil award upon Nadeem in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishment.

The resolution was passed with unanimous support.

Arshad Nadeem ended the country’s 32-year medal drought in the Olympics after bagging a gold medal with the longest throw of 92.97 meters in the javelin final at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Senate Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan Nasar plans to arrange an honorary dinner for Arshad once he returns to Pakistan.

Sindh government spokesperson and Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh has announced that a gold crown will be presented to gold medalist Arshad Nadeem upon his arrival in Sukkur. He further said an under-construction new sports stadium in Sukkur will be named “Arshad Nadeem Stadium” in recognition of the athlete’s extraordinary accomplishments.
