One dead, 19 injured in passenger van accident in Hunza

HUNZA: At least one person lost his life while 19 others were injured when a passenger van met an accident near Nasirabad, Hunza on Sunday.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the accident occurred at around 9:00 am when the van, carrying 20 passengers, was traveling from Miacher, Nager to Gilgit. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle after falling ill near Nasirabad checkpost in Hunza district, resulting in the accident.
Rescue 1122 teams from Hunza and Nagar shifted the injured passengers to the District Headquarters Hospital in Sikandarabad, Nagar. Four critically injured passengers were later transferred to the PHQ Hospital in Gilgit via Rescue 1122 ambulances.
Meanwhile, the search operation for the missing individuals from the recent Thalichi coaster accident continued for the sixth consecutive day. Pakistan Navy divers and Rescue 1122 teams are jointly conducting the search efforts.
The Thalichi coaster van accident occurred on Tuesday when a coaster van carrying a wedding party fell into the Indus River near Thalichi bridge in Astore. The incident resulted in the loss of at least 14 lives, with 11 still missing. The victims included the groom and his three relatives from Chakwal, as well as 20 relatives of the bride and the driver from Astore.
