One dead as PPP lawmaker’s convoy targeted in Quetta

Bachistan

QUETTA: Attackers lobbed grenades and used firearms to target the convoy of PPP leader Ali Madad Jattak in the provincial capital on Wednesday, resulting in one death.

Jattak, a Balochistan Assembly member, was set to join the people gathered to celebrate the military’s victory against the recent India aggression. However, the PPP lawmaker remained unhurt in the attack.

Reports suggest that another 10 people were injured in the blast, for which no one has so far claimed responsibility.

The latest terror attack comes after Balochistan saw a relative lull in terrorism acts since the terrorists attacked Jaffar Express in March, resulting in the death 21 passengers, four FC personnel and 33 terrorists.

The terrorist had taken the passengers as hostages after hijacking the train which had left Quetta for Peshawar.

Banned outfits are operating in Balochistan with their handlers operating from Afghanistan and backed by India.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said TTP and BLA were linked to India, as he made it clear that the Modi government could not act as a policeman in the region.

Soon after the Pahalgam attack, the military had foiled an attempt made by the terrorists to cross the border into Pakistan from Afghanistan. A total of 54 these terrorists were eliminated in the process.
