Only the state can declare jihad, says DG ISPR

KARACHI: Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif held meetings with different religious groups and social circles in Karachi.

During the meetings, DG ISPR said that followers of all religions are equal citizens in Pakistan, and followers of all religions have full rights. He said that national unity is maintained only through equality and harmony.

India is supporting terrorism in Pakistan, DG ISPR said, adding that the Pakistan Army is responding to the enemy with modern war strategy.

Ethnic or linguistic hatred is caused due ignorance, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said. He added that all Pakistanis are equal and if we remain united, no force can defeat us.

“Only the state can declare jihad,” DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif said, adding, “No individual or group has the right to declaring jihad.”

Representatives of different religions and social classes termed the meeting valuable, and thanked the spokesperson of the Pakistan Army.
