ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has given its approval to Azm-e-Istahkam, a newly announced anti-militancy operation.
In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the federal cabinet approved “Operation Azm-e-Istahkam.” The meeting, which reviewed an 11-point agenda, saw significant discussions and approvals.
According to sources, the cabinet endorsed the decisions of the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan and formally approved “Operation Azm-e-Istahkam.” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif briefed the cabinet on speculations regarding the operation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that “Operation Azm-e-Istahkam” is different from past operations and assured that the public will not face any inconvenience during its implementation.
The decision has come after the Apex Committee last Saturday gave the go-ahead to the military operation, which is a reinvigorated and re-energised national counter-terrorism drive, to turn up the heat on militants targeting Pakistan.
The federal cabinet also reviewed the annual report of the National Economic Council for the fiscal year 2022-23. It also ratified decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases (CCLC), and the Cabinet Committee on Government-Owned Enterprises.
