ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office of Pakistan reaffirmed the country’s commitment to taking lawful measures against illegal foreigners within its borders, including deportation. During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasised that Pakistan’s actions were in full accordance with its national laws and were being implemented to safeguard the country’s safety and security.
Addressing the issue of the imminent repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals, scheduled to commence on November 1, Baloch stated that Pakistan had been in communication with the interim Afghan government. She clarified that the policy wasn’t specific to Afghan nationals but extended to individuals of all nationalities lacking proper documentation to stay in Pakistan.
In response to queries regarding Pakistan’s ambassadorial representation in Afghanistan, Baloch confirmed that Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani, the current Head of Mission in Kabul, would continue in his role, indicating no immediate plans for a full-fledged ambassadorial appointment.

Discussing the situation in Gaza, Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance, demanding an end to indiscriminate bombings and the siege of Gaza. She emphasised Pakistan’s support for the establishment of the State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Baloch expressed deep concern over the inhumane campaign of collective punishment being endured by the Palestinian population in Gaza due to Israel’s relentless and indiscriminate bombardment. She mourned the loss of over 6,500 civilians, including 2,700 children.
Baloch also shared Pakistan’s expectations regarding the United Nations General Assembly’s extraordinary emergency session following the UN Security Council’s failure to call for a ceasefire and halt the carnage in Gaza. Pakistan anticipated a more responsive and proactive role from the UN Security Council, with an emphasis on democratic reforms rather than creating new centres of privilege.
Baloch concluded the briefing by noting the upcoming 76th anniversary of a historic day in South Asian history when, in 1947, Indian occupation forces landed in Jammu and Kashmir. She reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with UNSC resolutions.
