Pakistan Bar Council announces countrywide strike

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has announced a nationwide strike on May 9 to protest against India’s recent cross-border aggression and drone attack on Lahore’s Walton area.

In a strongly worded statement, the PBC condemned Indian actions and urged the United Nations to take immediate notice.

The Council expressed solidarity with the Pakistan armed forces and families of martyrs, calling India’s moves a clear violation of human rights and the UN Charter.

The Pakistan Bar Council besides observing strike has also directed all bar associations across the country to hold rallies, meetings, and pass resolutions in support of national security institutions.

The Council also voiced serious concern over the killing of women and children, and the reported damage to mosques in the attacks.

Calling for a lasting resolution, the PBC appealed to the international community to play its role in preventing further escalation and ensuring regional peace.
