ISLAMABAD: Pakistan announced the closure of its airspace for 48 hours following missile attacks by India on Pakistani territory, leading to the cancellation of all commercial flights.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to inform aviation authorities and airlines of the restrictions, which are expected to disrupt travel plans for thousands of passengers.

The decision to close airspace comes in the wake of heightened military tensions between the two countries. India launched missile strikes targeting multiple locations within Pakistan, prompting strong condemnation from Pakistani officials.
Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that Pakistan will respond decisively to these attacks, highlighting the country’s right to defend itself against aggression.
Prior to the nationwide airspace closure, Sialkot and Lahore airports had already suspended operations due to security concerns. Lahore airspace was closed earlier in response to the escalating situation, while Sialkot airport, located near the border with India, was shut down as a precautionary measure.
Aviation sources confirmed that the airspace closure affects all flights across Pakistan, including domestic and international routes. Airlines are currently working to accommodate the sudden changes, with many passengers facing delays and cancellations.
The recent missile attack by India on Pakistan and subsequent airspace closure have raised alarms about potential for further military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Both countries have a long history of conflict, particularly over the disputed region of Jammy and Kashmir. It has been a flashpoint for violence and military engagement for decades.
In response to the missile strikes, Pakistan military officials stated that they are prepared to take necessary actions to protect the country’s sovereignty. The military’s previously indicated its readiness to respond to any threats, and the current situation has heightened the alert status of security forces across the nation.
