Pakistan dispatches 35 tonnes of relief aid to Myanmar earthquake victims

WEB DESK: Following the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, Pakistan will be sending a consignment of 35 tonnes of relief supplies today to Myanmar to assist those affected by the tragedy.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the aid is being sent on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and includes 565 tents, 210 tarpaulins, 2,000 blankets, one tonne of ready-to-eat food, 0.5 tonnes of medicines, and 10 water modules. The supplies will be dispatched from Islamabad International Airport aboard a cargo aircraft.

Myanmar declares week of mourning as hopes fade for quake survivors

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has been present at the airport to oversee the shipment’s departure and said that Pakistan stood in solidarity with the people of Myanmar during this humanitarian crisis.

Upon arrival in Yangon, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Myanmar and senior diplomatic officials will receive the aid and hand it over to Myanmar’s Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation for distribution among the affected communities.

The earthquake, which struck Myanmar recently, has caused significant damage and displacement, prompting international relief efforts. Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance is part of its commitment to supporting disaster-hit regions.
