Pakistan endorses Beijing Declaration on Palestine

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif endorsed the Beijing Declaration on Palestine, describing it as a significant diplomatic achievement by the Republic of China on Tuesday.
The Beijing Declaration was formulated during talks in Beijing. It outlines the establishment of an interim national unity government for the Palestinian territories.

The summit achieved comprehensive Palestinian national unity under the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), reaffirming its sole legitimacy as the representative of the Palestinian people.
Various factions, including Hamas and Fatah, signed the declaration to consolidate Palestinian authority in Gaza following recent conflicts with Israel.
International involvement was significant, with diplomatic envoys from China, Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Russia, and Turkey endorsing the initiative.
The Beijing Declaration outlines plans for an interim government of national reconciliation to oversee all Palestinian territories, initiate Gaza reconstruction, and prepare for elections, aiming to promote regional stability.
It focuses on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with relevant United Nations resolutions.

Sharif addressed the enduring suffering of the Palestinian people and expressed optimism that the Beijing Declaration could lead to lasting peace in the region. He called upon the international community to show solidarity with Palestinians.
The PM condemned what he described as Israel’s “barbaric atrocities” against Palestinians.
