Pakistan expresses gratitude to Lebanon for quick visas: FO spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Abloch’s held weekly briefing with media and informed that a meeting was held between representatives of Pakistan and Tajikistan, in Islamabad. She said that both countries agreed to promote trade and investment.
Federal Minister Owais Leghari and Tajik officials attended the meeting, during which it was agreed to increase trade and coordination between the two countries, she said.
Meaningful talks were also held between Pakistan and France regarding the UN resolution, the FO spokesperson said, adding that both Pakistan and France agreed to play their role in promoting peace.
The resolution of the UN General Assembly calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza is welcome, Spokesperson of the Foreign Office said. The resolution also calls for the work of the Refugee Rehabilitation Agency, she added.
Speaking on the recent events in Syria, the FO said that Pakistan condemns the occupation of Syrian territories by Israel. “The Syrians infrastructure was destroyed in the attacks by Israel.” The Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan is reviewing the situation in Syria. “We fully support Syria’s sovereignty and integrity,” she said.
Pakistan Embassy is providing assistance to Pakistanis in Syria and over 300 Pakistanis have reached Pakistan from Syria. “We are grateful to the Lebanese government for granting visas immediately,” Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said.
She added that Pakistan condemns Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, and will continue to support Kashmiris. “Pakistan condemns Indian occupation of Kashmiri properties,” she said.
Pakistan supports the D8 agenda and will participate in the D8 conference in Cairo.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed grief over the death of Khalilur Rehman Haqqani. “Pakistan condemns all forms of terrorism. We are in touch with the Afghan authorities and are getting details of the incident,” Baloch added.
