ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated Pakistan’s first online women police station at the Islamabad Safe City headquarters, earlier this week. Simultaneously, a mobile application has also been launched for registration of complaints.
The Interior Minister said that the mobile app and online women police station reflect the commitment of the authorities to effectively use modern technology. He directed that the first priority of the staff deployed in the Safe City should be public service, adding that the surveillance system should be further improved and linked to artificial intelligence (AI).
A special helpline 1815 has also been allocated for the online women police station, which consists of an entirely female staff, including call attendants, responders and investigation officers.
The online women’s police station also has the facility of video calling and online chat. Women will not need to go to the police station for FIRs. Rather, the FIR will be delivered to the complainants’ homes.
