ISLAMABAD: The official website of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has been hacked in a major security breach.
Users are being redirected to a Chinese site when they attempt to access the portal.
The issue appears to be the result of a malicious JavaScript script that was injected into the national weather forecast website.
This script causes visitors to be redirected to an unfamiliar site, raising serious concerns about the security of the PMD server.

Millions of Pakistanis depend on the PMD website to get update on weather forecasts, disaster alerts and climate reports.
Several users suspect that the attack may have originated from China based on the language used in the script.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the security breach. However, cybersecurity experts have urged the PMD to take immediate action to remove the malicious code and secure its website.
Meanwhile, they have advised users to avoid accessing the site until the issue was resolved.
