Pakistan Navy rescues injured Indian crew at Arabian Sea: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy successfully carried out a rescue operation at sea to evacuate an injured Indian crew member from a Liberia-flagged oil tanker.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the tanker, MT High Leader, had issued a distress call requesting urgent medical aid for one of its Indian crew members.

Upon receiving the alert, the Pakistan Navy’s Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC) swiftly initiated the rescue operation, the ISPR said.

The injured Indian sailor was evacuated with the assistance of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and transported to a hospital in Karachi for emergency medical treatment.

The sailor was identified as Ahlwat Priyanshu, a resident of Patna, Bihar, India.

In a video message, the injured Indian sailor thanked Pakistan Navy for promptly rescuing him and rushing him to to a hospital for emergency treatment.

“After the injury, my seniors contacted the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Time Security Agency. They came and rescued me at the earliest possible way and give me so well treatment. I am so very glad and I am very grateful to them. And I am safe and secure over here.”

ISPR said in its statement that the prompt and successful operation reflects the Pakistan Navy’s resolve to uphold international responsibilities and protect human lives at sea, regardless of nationality. “The mission is a testament to the Pakistan Navy’s humanitarian commitment and its exemplary role in maritime safety.”
