Pakistan proved itself as net regional stabilizer: Field Marshal

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday said Pakistan had proved itself as a “net regional stabilizer”, as he rejected the Indian claims about external support to the country in the recent war.

Dragging other countries into a bilateral military conflict is a poor political move on the part of New Delhi, Field Marshal Asim Munir declared.

At the same time, he warned of a painful response in case of any future aggression against Pakistan.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz had called for increased regional cooperation and warned that “the forces of instability and chaos continue to destabilise our region for geopolitical agendas”.

“The Indian statements reflect the traditional hesitance to accept Pakistan’s success” in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, said the army chief in his address to the officer who completed the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University.

Noting the fact that India failed to achieve the military goals in Operation Sindoor, the field marshal said this failure represented a lack of long-term strategic understanding.

He said the claims made external support to Pakistan were devoid of facts, as India was reluctant to accept Pakistan’s success based upon strategy and indigenous capabilities.

Meanwhile, the army chief also reminded the military officers that a befitting and swift reply would be given to any [foreign] aggression or any attempt to damage sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

‘A PAINFUL RESPONSE’

In this connection, Field Marshal Asim Munir said Pakistan would give a “painful response” if any attempt was made to target the civilian population.

Any attack on military sites and economic hubs would trigger a response that could not even be imagined, he warned.

To further explain his stance, the army chief said the arrogant and aggressive India, which is deprived any wisdom, would be responsible for tensions [in future].

India was unable to ascertain the possible consequences of aggression against a sovereign nuclear state, he noted.

According to Field Marshal Asim Munir, wars are not won by jingoistic media statements, imported fancy military hardware or political slogans. Wars are won through strong faith, professional capabilities, and national determination and courage.
