RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Railways has increased train fares by five per cent, with the hike set to take effect from tomorrow (February 5).
A notification has been issued, confirming the fare increase will apply to all train classes.
According to the Pakistan Railways (PR) notification, ticket prices for the Salon service will also be raised.
The fare hike will also be implemented on all outsourced trains.
REVISED TICKET REFUND POLICY
Pakistan Railways has announced a revised ticket refund policy, which will also apply to tickets purchased through the “Raabta” app.
According to the official notification, passengers who buy tickets from the railway’s Point of Sale (POS) can receive a 90 per cent refund if they cancel 48 hours before departure. Cancellations made between 24 to 48 hours before departure will be eligible for an 80 per cent refund, while those made within 24 hours will get 70 per cent of the ticket price back.

Passengers can still claim a 50 per cent refund within two hours after the train’s departure. However, if a train is delayed by six hours or more, passengers will be entitled to a full refund.
Refunds for POS tickets will only be available at the counters where the tickets were originally purchased. To claim a refund, passengers must submit their original ticket along with a copy of their ID card, after which they will receive a cancellation slip and the refunded amount.
For online tickets, refunds will be processed through the same online service used for payment. The same refund policy applies, with no refunds issued after the train’s departure. However, if a cancellation is made less than 90 minutes before departure, passengers will receive a 50 per cent refund.
