Pakistan railways to restore Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways announced the restoration of the Jaffar Express service, which will resume operations from Quetta to Peshawar from October 11.
The decision will help reestablish rail connectivity for the province of Balochistan, which has faced several disruptions due to security issues.

The Jaffar Express is a key passenger train service that was suspended following destruction of a bridge in the Bolan district, due to terrorist activities.
The closure of the important rail link severely impacted travel and trade routes between the two provinces, isolating Balochistan for the most part.
The railway authorities said that the restoration of the express service was part of a broader initiative to improve rail connectivity across the country.
The service is expected to help increase trade as movement of goods from one province to another will significantly grow.
In recent months, the railways authorities have been working to improve safety and security measures along its routes, particularly in areas that have experienced violent attacks.
According to reports, the govemrent has allocated funds for infrastructure repairs and upgrades.
As part of restoration, railway authorities revealed that they planed to start with restoring existing tracks and introducing modern rolling stock.

The Jaffar Express will operate on a daily schedule.
The natural resource-rich Balochistan has long been a focal point for development initiatives. However, ongoing security issues and spike in terrorist activities in the area has hindered progress.
