RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has successfully tested Al-Fatah missile, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

The surface-to-surface Al-Fatah missile can hit targets up to 120 km, the ISPR said, adding that the missile test is part of Exercise ‘X-Indus’. The aim of the test was to test the readiness of the army and its technical systems, the ISPR said.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Army Staff, and the scientists and engineers involved in the successful training launch of the Fatah missile, capable of precision ground-to-ground strikes: “The success of this training launch demonstrates that Pakistan’s defense is in strong hands.”

PM Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the Pakistan Army’s professional capabilities and comprehensive preparations for national defense.

The ISPR statement also congratulated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad on the test. Military leadership lauded the performance of scientists, engineers and soldiers.

“Pakistan Army is fully capable of giving an effective response to any aggression,” the ISPR said.

Earlier in May, Pakistan also conducted a successful test of the Abdali Weapon System, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 kilometers. This missile was also part of Exercise Indus, aimed at evaluating the operational readiness of the troops and checking key technical parameters, including its modern navigation system and maneuverability features.
