Pakistan, UAE sign key pacts at 12th Joint Ministerial Commission meeting

WEB DESK: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed three key memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during the 12th session of their Joint Ministerial Commission, marking a significant step in enhancing strategic, economic, and developmental cooperation in Abu Dhabi.

Key agreements & discussions

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, leading the Pakistani delegation, said the agreements would strengthen bilateral ties. The two sides signed MoUs on a joint task force for investment promotion, cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), and the digital economy.

Officials also reviewed progress in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and IT. Dar announced that diplomatic and investor passport holders would now be exempt from visa requirements. According to Radio Pakistan, the session included exchanges on regional and global developments.  Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in the region.

A protocol, outlining procedural frameworks for follow-up actions, coordination through sectoral working groups and facilitation for reciprocal visits, was also signed. In addition to the protocol of the session, Memoranda of Understanding on “Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements” and “Establishment of a Joint Task Force to Promote Investments” as well as an Agreement on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy” were signed.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the outcomes and agreed to hold the 13th Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission in Pakistan on mutually agreed dates.

Future collaboration & regional stability

The Foreign Office stated that both nations agreed to boost joint investments in AI and the digital economy. The next commission meeting will be held in Pakistan.

Additionally, Pakistan and the UAE reaffirmed their commitment to working together for regional peace and stability. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries.
