ISLAMABAD: India carried out aggression against Pakistan, but Pakistan’s response capability has crushed Indian ambitions, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said on Friday.
Pakistan shot down six Indian aircraft, and proved that there will be no compromise on honor and dignity. The FO spokesperson also said that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India is a positive development, and that Pakistan appreciates the role of friendly countries for the ceasefire, adding that “[Pakistan] hopes India will not violate the ceasefire agreement”.
“Pakistan welcomes the US President’s offer to resolve the Kashmir issue,” the statement said, adding that Pakistan informed all friendly countries about Indian aggression.
Shafqat said that talks have been going on between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan and India since May 10. The DGMOs agreed to reduce tension in communication. He said that Pakistan also returned Indian border security personnel to India.
The FO statement also said that International countries should stop India from any further aggression. However, if there is any future aggression from India, Pakistani armed forces will respond accordingly, the FO spokesperson said.
“Pakistan always believes in dialogue and restoration of peace. Pakistan wants a solution to all issues including occupied Kashmir,” Shafqat said. The statement also refuted Indian reports on nuclear radiation in Indo-Pak clashes as “baseless”.
Speaking on Arunachal Pradesh issue, FO Spokesperson said, “We support China’s sovereignty and integrity.” However, he refrained from commenting on Afghanistan’s Defense Minister’s alleged secret visit to India, saying only that “Hopefully, Afghanistan-India relations will not be used against Pakistan.”
“We don’t comment on any other country’s relations with other countries. Every state has the right to formulate its own foreign policy in a sovereign capacity. Pakistan recognises India and Afghanistan as sovereign and independent states. India has been involved in abetting and promoting terrorism in Pakistan, and has also plotted assassinations in other countries including Pakistan,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali said, adding, “We have solid evidence and materials of Indian terrorism. Whenever there is a discussion on terrorism, Pakistan will present its position clearly.”
Pakistan’s FO said, “We want a permanent solution to the problem of terrorism. We have no objection to discussing terrorism at an international forum.”
