Pakistani musician Haniya Aslam passes away

LAHORE: Pakistani musician Haniya Aslam, one-half of Zeb-Haniya, has passed away in the wee hours of Monday. The news was confirmed by Zeb aka Zeb Bangash via Instagram.
The musician reportedly died of a cardiac arrest. Haniya was Zeb’s cousin and together, they created magical tunes, especially on Coke Studio Pakistan. The duo’s hits from the show included the song Chal Diye.
Taking to her Instagram, Zeb shared a series of photos of Haniya and simply wrote, “Hanini,” in the caption. Soon after she shared the post, her industry friends and fans flooded the comment section, condoling the death of the musician.
Pakistani cricketer Syeda Nain Fatima Abidi wrote, “Aas wohi dil mai leye, iss aarzoo mai hum jiyen, tera haath thaam k, lo ham bhi chal diye… Rest in peace.” Dino wrote, “Inna lillahe wa inna ilaehe raje’oon – she was always so sweet and a brilliant talent – im so sorry for your loss and pray that Allah Pak gives you and the family sabr during this difficult time – Allah Pak Janat ul firdous main jaga dain Ameen”. Sophiya Anjam, “My dearest Zeb, I am so, so sorry. Haniya was a brilliant artist, a warm soul & loved/respected by many. She has left memories for us all to cherish. I cannot even imagine the pain of her loved ones in this terribly difficult time, can only make dua that may Allah make it easy. Sending you love & deepest condolences. Her music & spirit shall always be celebrated.”

She began her career in 2007 as a member of the music group, Zeb and Haniya, along with her cousin Zeb. However, in 2014, she left the group and moved to Canada for studies. Haniya and Zeb created numerous hit tracks, especially on Coke Studio Pakistan. Their hit from the tracks includes Chal Diye, Laili Jaan and Kya Khayal Hai. During her time in Canada, she started her journey as a solo singer. Years later, she returned to Pakistan and became one of the most successful musicians in the Pakistani music industry.
Apart from albums, she has also composed songs for movies such as Lala Begum, Maypole Rose and Dobara Phir Se.
