Pakistani teen killed in Greece over a brawl

ATHENS: A 19-year-old Pakistani youth was stabbed to death during a clash between the Butt and Gujjar communities on the renowned Greek island of Mykonos.
The victim, identified as Waqas, hailed from Sialkot, Pakistan.
According to reports from Greek newspapers, the incident took place behind a nightclub on the island, and involved some 25 Pakistani nationals, with both victims being stabbed.
The latest information reveals that the local police have apprehended over 20 Pakistanis in connection with the incident.
At least seven of those detained were expected to be arrested for gun, drug and alien law violations.
The confrontation took place due to a dispute involving an Indian boy between the Butt and Gujjar communities. The young man affiliated with the Butt community lost his life, while another individual remains in critical condition at a hospital.
Sources indicate that personal animosity during work was the cause of the altercation, but the Greek media is highlighting it as a narcotics issue.
The police have tightened their grip on the Pakistani community residing on the island of Mykonos.

Seven Pakistanis are under investigation, along with 33 individuals, including four Indians, who have been arrested in connection with the case.
Police authorities were conducting checks at the port and the airport of the island in order to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the murder.
The preliminary investigation of the case has been undertaken by the local security directorate.
Following the incident, the Pakistani community residing in Greece has expressed deep concern.
Community leaders state that such incidents bring disrepute to both the country and the community. They demand that all individuals involved in this incident be given severe punishment in accordance with Greek laws.
