WASHINGTON: The United States (US) has deported over 7,000 undocumented migrants, including Pakistanis, following a crackdown on illegal immigration initiated by US President Donald Trump soon after he assumed office.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the administration fulfilled a key campaign promise within its first week, deporting 7,300 illegal immigrants. The move is part of a wider crackdown, particularly targeting violent criminals.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is leading the efforts under the Trump administration’s policy to remove individuals staying illegally in the country.

Sources confirm that a few Pakistani nationals were also among those arrested for illegal stay in the US Some were detained for illegally crossing the border. In California, the number of arrested Pakistani immigrants is fewer than 10.

The DHS stated that law enforcement conducted multiple operations, ensuring swift deportations of individuals without legal status. Authorities focused on violent offenders, emphasising public safety.

Recent ICE operations were carried out in major cities, including Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. In Chicago, six federal agencies launched joint operations to arrest criminal aliens deemed a potential threat.
