‘Pakistanis need Hussaini character to overcome current challenges’

ISLAMABAD: The Day of Ashura is being celebrated with religious devotion and respect across the country to pay homage to the Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions. The President’s message on the occasion of Ashura said that in the context of the challenges facing the country today, we as a nation need a Hussaini character.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have said in their messages on the occasion of the Day of Ashura that the incident of Karbala is a symbol of an eternal struggle against falsehood.
President Zardari said that the Day of Ashura gives us a message of sacrifice, truthfulness and sincere determination. “This day reminds us of the great martyrdom of the grandson of the Prophet Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his martyred companions,” he said.
He added that the incident of Karbala is a symbol of an eternal struggle against falsehood. “The martyrdom of the great Imam was a divine mission based on truthfulness, justice and the pleasure of God. The great message of Imam Hussain (RA) is to stand firm on principles and not bow down to oppression and oppression,” the statement added.
“We have to pledge today that we will make Pakistan a manifestation of Imam Hussain’s message of freedom and justice,” he said.
Prime Minister Sharif said in his message that the Day of Ashura is a great and instructive day in the history of Islam. “Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) sacrificed his life for the glory of the day along with his companions. His example teaches us to be patient and steadfast on principles,” the PM added.
The Prime Minister also said that Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) sacrifice in Karbala is a beacon for humanity until the Day of Judgment. “There is a need to take guidance from the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) for society and national unity,” the PM’s statement said.
