Parliamentary leaders to get ‘national security’ briefing tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary leaders will be briefed on national security matters in an important meeting at the Parliament House on October 2 (tomorrow),
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir, along with intelligence chiefs, will brief parliamentary leaders regarding national security matters.
The crucial meeting of the parliamentary leaders of the National Assembly and Senate has been summoned by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday, the NA spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, the meeting is scheduled to be held on October 2 at the Parliament House.

“In the meeting, a briefing will be given on the security situation of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said the spokesperson, revealing that the meeting will be held in-camera.
According to sources, senior officials of security institutions and intelligence agencies will provide an in-camera briefing to the parliamentary leaders of political parties on the present security situation of the country’s two restive provinces.
It should be noted that the meeting has been scheduled following concerns expressed over the security situation in both Balochistan and KP by senior parliamentarians including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman and others on the floor of two houses.
