Parvez Elahi arrested once again

LAHORE: Rawalpindi police on Sunday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi in an alleged terrorism case soon after an anti-corruption court in Lahore discharged him in a graft case pertaining to the Lahore Master Plan 2050.

His lawyer Intezar Hussain while confirming the news said that Rawalpindi police took Pervez Elahi into custody in a terrorism case.

Sources said that Parvez Elahi has been transferred to Adiala jail Rawalpindi. Elahi was shifted to Lahore two days ago by the Anti-Corruption Punjab team. After being re-arrested, he is expected to be presented in a local court tomorrow.

Parvez Elahi taken into custody again

Pervez Elahi, along with several other PTI leaders and workers, has been apprehended as part of the state’s intensified actions against PTI leadership in the wake of violent protests that erupted across the country following the party chief’s initial arrest on May 9.

According to one of his attorneys, Sardar Abdul Razzaq, this marks the 13th time that the PTI leader has been taken into custody since June 1, shortly after the events of May 9.”
