PDMA issues thunderstorm, hail alert across Punjab till April 29

LAHORE: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a alert for rain with thunderstorm and hail in Punjab from April 26 (today) to 29.
The PDMA spokesperson in its letters to all deputy commissioners of Punjab has cautioned to take precautionary measures as the MET office has predicted heavy rains and snowfall in the province till April 29.
Rain is expected to lash Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal and other areas of the province, said spokesperson PDMA.
In most of the districts there will be rain along with hail, said spokesperson PDMA.
According to the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, the administration is on round the clock alert, said DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia.

The DG said that the district administration of the entire province has been informed about the new weather situation.
The DG directed the administration that drainage should be ensured in low lying areas.
He warned the citizens to stay in safe places to avoid lightning and never go under the open sky during lightning and stormy conditions.
Citizens are requested to stay away from electric poles during the storm and in case of emergency, contact the concerned district administration on helpline 1129, said DG PDMA.
