Pentagon reaffirms Pakistan’s sovereignty in internal matters

WASHINGOTN: Pentagon spokesman Major General Patrick Ryder addressed concerns regarding internal matters of Pakistan and its approach to border defense on Tuesday.

During a recent press conference in Washington, the Pentagon spokesperson stated that Pakistan retains sovereignty over its internal matters.

Regarding regional security and counterterrorism efforts, Ryder talked about the ongoing cooperation between the United States and Pakistan.

“Working together with Pakistan against terrorism,” the spokesperson confirmed. He further talked about the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing regional terrorism concerns.

The spokesperson also acknowledged the longstanding relationship between the US and Pakistan, mentioning the history of security cooperation between the two nations.

“There is a security cooperation relationship with Pakistan,” he stated, indicating continued engagement on security matters.

Looking ahead, Ryder expressed the Pentagon’s commitment to close cooperation with Pakistan in combating terrorism and ensuring regional stability. “Will work closely with Pakistan to stop regional terrorism,” he affirmed.
