Peshawar university in financial crisis; two months’ salaries delayed

PESHAWAR: The University of Agriculture in Peshawar is grappling with a severe financial crisis, leaving its employees in dire straits as they await their February salaries.

Sources within the university administration have revealed that currently there are not even enough funds available to disburse salaries for the months of February and March, exacerbating the financial strain faced by the institution and staff.

A staggering sum of Rs 400 million is urgently required to settle the outstanding salaries for the previous month and the current month, according to reliable university sources.

Vice-Chancellor of Peshawar University of Agriculture Dr Jahan Bakht spoke on the challenges posed by a reduced budget allocation for universities, and explained the escalating expenditure on salaries and pensions as key factors contributing to the university’s financial woes.

The university has reached out to the provincial government, urgently seeking financial assistance to fulfil its payroll obligations.
