PESHAWAR: The inferno in Peshawar’s industrial area of Hayatabad has finally been put out after 22 hours of efforts, with over 100 fire-fighting personnel involved in the rescue efforts.
According to latest reports, the cooling process is in progress now. No loss of life has been reported despite the lengthy period of the blaze. However, 16 fire-fighting personnel were strongly affected by the fire and are currently undergoing treatment.
The rescue officials said that even though one part of the building had collapsed due to fire, the damage was contained to a single building due to quick response of the rescue teams.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that the fire was started to come under control, but towards the afternoon the second story of the building caught fire.
Over 100 fire-fighters from Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Khyber and Swabi took part in controlling the inferno. The squad also included 25 operational rescue vehicles as well as nine Pakistan Air Force (PAF) vehicles.
