ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to advocate for the inclusion of the tragic Jaranwala incident in the national educational curriculum
A petitioner by the name of Jaya Salak approached the IHC for the inclusion of the Jaranwala incident in the curriculum.
The IHC, in response to Salak’s petition, has directed the matter to be forwarded to the office of the Prime Minister for consideration by the federal cabinet.
The petition argues that by educating students about the Jaranwala incident, which shook the nation with its violence and religious intolerance, it can promote religious tolerance and potentially prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Notably, both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Punjab have already taken note of the Jaranwala incident, as acknowledged by the court. Therefore, the IHC deemed it more fitting for the matter of curriculum alteration to be presented before the federal cabinet for a comprehensive review.
In a statement released by the Islamabad High Court, it was emphasized that the oppression of minority communities goes against the fundamental principles of Islam and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
IHC ordered that Jaya Salak’s request be forwarded to the Prime Minister through the Principal Secretary.
