Petrol prices likely to be reduced by Rs 5 per liter for June

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed a cut in petrol prices by Rs5.27 per litre for the first half of month of June , potentially making them more affordable for consumers across the country.

According to sources, after the approval, rate of a litre of petrol will be reduced from Rs273.10 to Rs267.83.

The sources further said that it was also proposed to make one liter of high speed diesel cheaper by Rs4.13 and light speed diesel by Rs5.

After the approval, one liter diesel will be reduced from Rs274.08 to Rs269.95, sources further said.

The OGRA also proposed to reduce the price of one liter of kerosene by Rs2, sources said

However, the government will decide to whether or not to reduce petrol prices for June, sources added.

If confirmed, this would be the third consecutive reduction in fuel prices, adding up to a total decrease of Rs24.85 per litre.

Additionally, diesel prices on the international market have dropped by 83 cents to $98.40.

OGRA is set to send the summary of proposed price adjustments to the Petroleum Division on May 31. Subsequently, the Ministry of Finance and the prime minister will take a final decision and issue an official notification.

The new prices would take effect on June 1, for the first two weeks of the month.
