ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi Oil Tankers Owners Association has halted the supply of petrol and diesel, sparking fears of potential shortages in the twin cities and surrounding areas.

According to reports, the suspension of supply has also extended to regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Supply to airports has also been suspended.
The association has attributed this drastic action to the government’s failure to address their demands. Despite sending notices to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) authorities and the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC), they claim to have received no response.
Their primary demand revolves around the insistence on filling tankers under a meterised system, a measure they argue is essential to prevent losses to both tanker owners and consumers. They have accused the district administration and authorities of reneging on a prior agreement reached on February 20.

Until their demands are met, the association has declared that the suspension of supply will continue, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the availability of petrol and diesel in the affected areas.
