PIA daily wagers get a salary raise

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a wage raise for its daily wage employees, believing the move would raise their morale and increase their productivity.

 A formal notification has been issued in this regard.

As per the notification, the national flag carrier has increased the daily wages by Rs5,000 with effect from July 1, taking the monthly salary up to Rs37,000.

“This rise in pay scale is part of the broader scheme of PIA for improving the working conditions of its employees and enhancing the overall efficiency of operations”, says the notification.

In the fiscal year budget for 2024-25, the federal government raised the minimum wage to Rs37,000.

The salaries of government employees from grades 1-16 were raised by 25 per cent while salaries for grades 17-22 were increased by 20 per cent.
