PIA flight from Muscat to Peshawar makes emergency landing in Karachi


Karachi traders interest in buying PIA

KARACHI: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Muscat to Peshawar encountered technical issues shortly after takeoff, prompting an emergency landing in Karachi.

Flight PK 260 departed Muscat at 5:22 AM local time but experienced a malfunction in its hydraulic system approximately 30 minutes into the flight while traversing Pakistani airspace.

Flying without luggage, landing at the wrong spot: the PIA experience

According to aviation sources, the Airbus A320 rapidly descended from 36,000 feet to 8,000 feet in just seven minutes as the pilot declared an emergency. The crew promptly altered the flight path towards Karachi, where the aircraft landed safely at Jinnah International Airport at 7:08 AM.

The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection by maintenance teams to assess the extent of the malfunction. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the passengers and crew during the incident.

PIA spokesperson said that the passengers are being taken care of at the Karachi Airport and are flight PK 368 will be used to take them to Peshawar.
