PIA flight makes emergency landing at Dammam airport

LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight to Lahore made an emergency landing at Dammam International Airport, in Saudi Arabia, soon after takeoff on Thursday morning.

According to sources, PIA flight PK 244 took off from Dammam airport and was bound for Lahore when soon after take off the pilot noticed a technical glitch in the communication system.

The pilot contacted the air traffic control and asked permission to make an emergency landing.

A PIA spokesperson stated that due to a problem in the communication system, the PIA flight had to make an emergency landing. Engineers examined the plane and found no faults.

The flight has since taken off and is expected to land in Lahore within an hour,” the spokesperson added.

Last week, the national carrier PIA had resumed direct flights to Paris after a four-year ban due to security concerns.
