PIA gets new CEO for one year

KARACHI: Air Vice Marshal (retired) Muhammad Amir Hayat has been appointed Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

According to PIA spokesperson, the appointment of Muhammad Amir Hayat has been made for a year.

The prime minister had rejected the recommendation to appoint the PIA CEO for three years.

Earlier, the retired Air Vice Marshal was working as acting CEO of PIA.

The position of the CEO was lying vacant after Air Marshal Arshad Malik, who was appointed in Oct 2018, completed his three-year tenure on April 25.

The appointment was made after, the federal government approved the appointment of the chief executive officer (CEO) of the national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines, last week.

The federal cabinet approved the summary through circulation.
