PIA offices to remain closed in Islamabad for SCO summit

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced that its offices in Islamabad will remain closed from October 14 to 16 due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. While many of PIA flights have been cancelled for Saturday.

A circular issued by PIA stated that the decision follows instructions from the federal government in light of the SCO summit, which is deemed a high-profile event.

However, PIA employees working in shifts at the airport will continue their duties as usual.

SIX FLIGHTS CANCELLED

Meanwhile, PIA has called off six international and domestic flights on Saturday due to operational issues

According to the flight schedule, the arrival and departure of 25 domestic and international flights from different airports have also been delayed.

PIA flights PK-302 and PK-303 from Lahore to Karachi have been suspended while flight PK-293 from Multan to Sharjah has also been cancelled.

PIA flight PK-182 from Sharjah to Islamabad and two PIA flights PK-660 and PK-661 from Islamabad to Chitral were also cancelled.

Apart from this, three flights of PIA and private airlines from Islamabad to Jeddah have been delayed, while PIA flight PK-233 from Lahore to Dubai has been delayed by one and a half hours.

Private airline flight ER-523 from Lahore to Karachi will depart three hours late.

Arrival of flights from Kuwait, Sharjah, Al Qasim to Islamabad will be delayed by one to two hours.

PIA ADVISORY

 PIA officials recommend that affected passengers check their flight status via the airline’s website or contact the helpline for updates.

The airline has expressed its apologies and is working to resolve the issues promptly.
