PIA owe Jakarta airport above Rs4b in parking fee

ISLAMABAD: The parking expenses for two aircraft of the national airline have exceeded Rs4 billion overseas. The two leased Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus A320 aircraft have been at Jakarta Airport since September 2021.
According to the audit report, the airport parking fee is $600,000 per month. The total fee for 26 months amounts to $15.4 million, equivalent to Rs.4.388 billion.

PIA officers continued to receive overseas tours and perks for supervising the aircrafts. The planes have been parked at Jakarta Airport due to a dispute with the leasing company.
The auditor termed the situation as a result of administrative negligence.
The spokesperson for Pakistan Internation Airlines meanwhile stated, that the issues with the leasing company have been resolved and the aircraft will soon return to Pakistan.
