Pindi Bhattian: At least 16 people lost their lives as bus catches fire


PINDI BHATTIAN: At least 16 individuals lost their lives while 11 others sustained injuries in a tragic incident involving a passenger bus catching fire near Pindi Bhattian on Sunday morning.

The ill-fated bus was en route from Karachi to Islamabad and the incident took place on the Faisalabad Motorway.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Fahad, it has been confirmed that the bodies of 16 passengers have been recovered from the bus.

“The injured individuals were rushed to the nearby hospital for medical treatment,” the DPO said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Pindi Bhattian Ehsan Zafar said that the bus was carrying an estimated 35 to 40 passengers and suddenly engulfed in flames following a collision with a diesel-filled pickup van.

“The collision led to both vehicles catching fire, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 16 lives and injuring 11 others,” Zafar added.

Meanwhile, hospital sources reported that a majority of the injured individuals were in critical and there was an anticipation that the death toll could increase
