Pink buses: training programme for women drivers begins

KARACHI: The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) has initiated a training programme for 18 women drivers to operate modern buses.

During the initial phase, the Motorway Police and SMTA are collaborating to train these women drivers. Practical instruction on driving buses is being provided by instructors from the Peoples Bus Service (PBS), a division of SMTA.

In the subsequent phase, the training programme will expand to include transgender drivers.

Upon successful completion of the training, these women drivers will be deployed to operate buses for both the Bus Rapid Transit Division (BRTD) and the Peoples Bus Service (PBS).
