ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to amend the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government’s policy regarding key appointments by eliminating the upper age limit of 65 years.

Sources said that the federal government has decided to remove the upper age limit of 65 years for important appointments, with a summary prepared for this purpose.

The final approval will be sought from the federal cabinet.

Under the proposed amendment, there will be no upper age limit for new appointments, allowing skilled professionals to enter key positions smoothly.

The proposed amendment also includes the extension of age limits beyond 65 years for existing appointments.

The decision aims to attract highly qualified technical experts and enhance talent recruitment in federal ministries and divisions by amending the 2019 rule.

In addition, the sources said that the governance system within federal ministries and divisions will undergo restructuring to improve effectiveness.

A committee led by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb had proposed the amendments.
