ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of the Iranian President in helicopter accident.

In a statement issued on X, formerly Twitter, Prime Minister Sharif extended his condolences to the people of Iran, declaring a one-day mourning period in Pakistan to honour the deceased leader.

As part of the mourning, the national flag will be flown at half-mast across the country. “Pakistan had the pleasure of hosting President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullah on a historic visit, less than a month ago. They were good friends of Pakistan”, wrote Prime Minister Sharif, highlighting the close ties and solidarity between the two nations.
The loss of the Iranian President has been met with sorrow across the region, and Pakistan’s gesture of mourning reflects the deep respect and bond shared between both countries.
