PM bans use of red carpets at official functions

ISLAMABAD:  Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has imposed a ban on the utilization of red carpets for official events, decreeing that they will now be exclusively reserved for diplomatic gatherings.

A notification to this effect has been officially issued.

The decision, aimed at promoting austerity and enhancing the solemnity of official engagements, signifies a departure from extravagant practices in line with the government’s commitment to fiscal prudence.

Under the new directive, red carpets will only adorn venues hosting diplomatic events, symbolizing respect and protocol for foreign dignitaries.
