PM directs third-party validation for FBR reforms

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting on Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reforms, issuing directives to engage globally renowned firms for third-party validation of ongoing initiatives. The move underscores the government’s commitment to institutional transparency and sustainable economic reforms.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Faceless Customs Assessment System and the progress of reforms within Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL). He highlighted PRAL’s crucial role in boosting revenue collection and significantly reducing customs clearance times.

Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed the government’s dedication to achieving a stable economy through these sustainable reforms, noting recent positive economic indicators as proof of the government’s effective policy direction.

Discussions also covered the advancement of digital tax systems, with a particular focus on developing user-friendly interfaces in Urdu and other local languages to enhance accessibility for taxpayers.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the FBR Chairman, and other senior officials from relevant institutions.
