PM inaugurates Islamabad’s F-8 underpass today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is all set to inaugurate the F-8 underpass in Islamabad today (Tuesday) which has been completed in a record 42 days.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa, will accompany the prime minister at the inauguration ceremony.

The underpass, located at Jinnah Avenue, aims to alleviate traffic congestion in one of the busiest sectors of the capital.

According to CDA officials, the project was launched as part of an accelerated development plan to improve connectivity and ease commuter movement in Islamabad.

The underpass was completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 600 million, with authorities ensuring high-quality construction despite the fast-track timeline. It is expected to benefit thousands of commuters daily by providing a seamless route between sectors F-8 and G-8.

The F-8 underpass inauguration is part of a broader plan to modernize Islamabad’s road network. Earlier this year, CDA completed several road rehabilitation projects, signaling a push toward improving urban mobility in the capital.

Serena Chowk Interchange will be inaugurated in January, with the construction expected to be completed within 60 days.

The flyover being constructed over the PTCL F-8 exchange will also be completed by February 2025.

With the completion of these projects, traffic congestion issues in Islamabad will be greatly solved providing much-needed relief to commuters.
