PM leaves for Saudi Arabia today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will leave for an official visit to Saudi Arabia today, the Foreign Office spokesperson said.

The invitation was extended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS).

According to the spokesperson, key cabinet members will accompany the Prime Minister.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince to review all aspects of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.

“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy a historic relationship, rooted in shared faith, values and mutual trust,” the Foreign Office said, adding that the trip will provide an opportunity for both leaders to consolidate ties and explore new avenues of collaboration.

The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues. The Foreign Office stated that the visit will further strengthen the unique partnership between the two countries and create new opportunities for cooperation in the interest of the people.

Since taking office, PM Shehbaz has travelled to Saudi Arabia several times. In October 2024, the two countries signed 34 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting private sector collaboration and expanding commercial ties.

This year alone, the premier has made two official visits to the Kingdom. His first, from March 19 to 22, focused on enhancing trade, investment and economic cooperation. He returned from June 5 to 6 to spend Eidul Adha in Saudi Arabia.
