PM Shehbaz arrives in Tajikistan for two-day official visit

DUSHANBE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on a two-day official visit.

Upon his arrival at Dushanbe Airport, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Deputy Foreign Minister Sharifzoda Farrukh Homiddin, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Saeed Sarwar.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the Prime Minister, according to PTV.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

The leaders will discuss enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan in various sectors.

The Prime Minister will also express his gratitude to President Rahmon for Tajikistan’s unwavering support for Pakistan amid recent tensions between India and Pakistan in the South Asian region.

Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif will participate in a high-level international conference in Dushanbe focused on glacier preservation.

At the conference, he will brief participants on the impact of climate change on Pakistan and reaffirm the country’s steadfast commitment to climate action and the protection of glaciers.

Earlier PM Shehbaz arrived Tuesday in Azerbaijan on the third leg of his four-nation tour, where he was scheduled to participate in a top-level Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan trilateral meeting.

Upon arrival at Lachin Airport, PM Shehbaz was warmly received by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, senior diplomat Qasim Mohiuddin, and other members of the Azerbaijani diplomatic corps.
